Uniquely Singapore

I'm glad that Singapore was the first out-of-the-country experience I had. It's impossible not to be awed by how disciplined the people are in this country especially in comparison to where I came from. The best thing about Singapore, for me, is the transportation. You have the choice to travel around by bus or by MRT. If it's your first time, I suggest you use the MRT since it's more convenient.
We arrived in Changi Airport at almost midnight so we had no choice but to take a taxi since the MRT system is only until 12mn. Our accommodation was in Superb Hostel in Bugis which we booked via booking.com at a rate of 35.00SGD per person per night.
Additional information: Taxi cost from 12mn to 6am is 150% of the metered fare.
After checking in, we decided to look around the area since we weren't really sleepy yet. The street where our hostel was located had a number of other budget hotels in it. The neighborhood was quiet and we saw some beautiful street arts on the building walls.
SENTOSA
We had our breakfast at a nearby Indian restaurant then proceeded to Sentosa island. Bugis station is just a 10 minute walk away from our hostel and on the way there, we had a look of Bugis Junction.
You can read about our adventures in Universal Studios Singapore here. After our magical experience in USS, we explored the rest of Sentosa. They also have their own Merlion statue in which you can actually go inside but since our feet were already numb from all the walking, we didn't have enough strength to climb more stairs :(
It was already getting dark when we decided to go back to our hostel to rest. Since the food in USS is a bit expensive, we had to deprive ourselves from eating and ignore our hunger. On the way home, we stopped by Food Republic in Harbourfront Station.
CHINATOWN
We were on our way to Beach Road where we will take our bus to Malaysia when we decided to stop by Chinatown since it was still a bit early and had our lunch there. We didn't really get to see the typical Chinatown we had in mind since the people we met were not very friendly in giving us directions so we just roamed near the MRT station.
BEACH ROAD
Beach Road had a different feel as it was a bit further from the central city. It was still partly a business area with tall buildings but I think it was also a residential area because I saw some apartments (not sure though).
When our bus departed for Malaysia, we had a view on the outskirts of the city. (You can read about our Malaysia trip here: Kuala Lumpur and Batu Caves)
MARINA BAY SANDS
After 2 nights in Malaysia, we arrived back in Singapore around 3pm in the afternoon and initially got back to Superb Hostel to freshen up. We had to rest a bit more because it was raining and only managed to get out around 4:30pm.
Marina Bay Sands was the biggest hotel I've ever been to so far and it was exciting. We originally planned to go to the hotel's observation deck but decided otherwise because we realized we were not willing to pay 23.00SGD for that experience (haha!) so we just proceeded to the Botanical Gardens.
GARDENS BY THE BAY
We got to the Botanical Gardens through a bridge from Marina Bay Sands with the help of good-hearted strangers :)
CENTRAL BUSINESS DISTRICT
On the way to the famous Merlion, we had a good view at the night lights and the buildings in Singapore's Central Business District within the city itself.
MERLION PARK
At the major landmark of Singapore.
MAKANSUTRA GLUTTONS BAY
Another famous spot in the Central Business District is the Makansutra Gluttons Bay. If you are a food lover, you'll definitely love this place. You should definitely try their chicken wings, they're superbly delicious!
ORCHARD ROAD
Orchard Road is known to be the shopping district of Singapore. It is a 2.2km long boulevard and with lots of colorful lights during Christmas season.
BUGIS JUNCTION
On our final day in Singapore, we bought souvenirs and pasalubongs in Bugis Junction. The items here are cheap and they usually have wholesale deals.

LITTLE INDIA
Before going to Changi Airport, we stopped by Little India.
CHANGI INTERNATIONAL AIRPORT
It is always the saddest part when a trip is about to be over and you'd have to go back to your normal life. But it also makes you excited and look forward to your next adventures. I will definitely visit Singapore again since there are still a lot of things and places that I want to see here. :)
