A Guide to Universal Studios Singapore, Sentosa

A trip to Singapore is never complete without going to Universal Studios - so months before our trip, we already purchased tickets online (www.rwsentosa.com) at SGD63.00 each. Purchasing tickets online also means you don't have to queue on ticket booths.
With the help of a Map Guide on Singapore's MRT System, go to Harbourfront Station. There are two ways to get to Sentosa Island: via cable car (which is more expensive) and via Sentosa Express. Needless to guess, we chose the cheaper one ofcourse since we were traveling on a very tight budget. For only around SGD2.00, you already have unlimited rides on the Sentosa Express within Sentosa Island.
*Important tip: Your footwear should be comfortable because there is going to be a lot of walking.UNIVERSAL STUDIOS SINGAPORE
Upon entrance, you get to see the ever popular globe ofcourse in which taking a picture is a necessity.
Since the Studio is quite a big place, it's important to get a studio guide flyer (which is free). With the help of this guide that also has a map, it was easier deciding which attractions we want to try and which ones we opt to ditch. There are 7 areas: Hollywood, New York, Sci-Fi City, Ancient Egypt, The Lost World, Far Far Away, and Madagascar.
The attractions in New York are "Lights, Camera, Action!" and "Sesame Street Spaghetti Space Chase" but we didn't try either since we thought they were too childish for us. (But we did agree that if we still had time to spare, we'd actually try them later)
The Accelator was under maintenance so we couldn't ride it :(
Transformers is an awesome 3D ride. This was the first ride that we tried. I personally suggest you try this first because the line can get really loooooonnnnngggg. Though if you are caught up in a long queue, you wouldn't really get that bored since there is actually a story: You are a recruit to become a freedom fighter and join Optimus Prime and the Autobots in fighting against the forces of evil. (With all the big screens and cool stuff that you can supposedly find in their headquarters and it actually feels like you are in the actual movie yourself).
The next ride we took was Revenge of the Mummy which is a VERY FUN high-speed roller coaster with tilting, dropping, backwards motion, actual fire and some bit of an adrenaline feel. (Too bad we had to deposit our things before going inside as loose objects are not allowed so we had no pictures inside)
Then there's Treasure Hunters. You get to ride a jeep through an abandoned Egyptian excavation site. After the adrenaline pump you got from Revenge of the Mummy, this ride allows you to just sit back, relax, and enjoy.
The Lost World has 5 attractions. WaterWorld is a live water show and I don't know why but we didn't get to see it :( Then there's the Jurassic Park Rapids Adventure which is a thrilling river raft ride and you will most probably get wet (you can buy raincoats though). We also rode the Canopy Flyer - it's like a roller coaster ride with a twist: YOUR FEET ARE HANGING IN THE AIR. It was a bit scary but really fun. We didn't get to try the 2 more attractions in this area - Dino-Soarin' and Amber Rock Climb.
For those who don't know, Far Far Away is Shrek and Fiona's kingdom (remember that big fat ogre with trumpet ears?).
In Far Far Away, there is a 4-D cinema style show inside the castle. Spoiler: you will feel spiders crawling on your feet.
Do you want to ride a dragon? Then Enchanted Airways is for you. This roller coaster ride will give you a flight over Far Far Away and have a good look.
There is also Magic Potion Spin - a ferris wheel for children and Donkey LIVE - an interactive live show with Donkey but we ditched these two.
Just outside the gates of Far Far Away castle, you will see Shrek's house.
By the time we reached Madagascar, our feet were already numb. With the river boat ride, we were able to relax a bit and just enjoy a musical show inside a sunken ship. There is also a carousel for children and some snack stalls.
Overall, USS was a really wonderful experience and a great value for money. Should you feel hungry while roaming around, food stalls are everywhere. They also have a great marketing strategy - almost all exits of their attractions are in a souvenir shop so be prepared to drool (haha!).
