Getting to Batu Caves is not hard at all, if you just know how to follow signs. Travel duration from KTM station in KL Sentral to Batu Caves station will take around 30-45 minutes and costs only MYR2.00. Then, you would need to take a walk of about 5-8 minutes. There is an entrance of MYR2.00 which I think is very cheap considering that the place is a tourist attraction.
Near the entrance, you will find the first cave. Though not as famous as the 2nd cave (the one with 272 steps), this one is still worth the time to see as there are a lot of beautiful and colorful statues inside.

On the way to the 2nd cave (known as the Temple Cave), you will see two other sacred temples.
The next thing you will see is the giant golden statue of Lord Murugan.
If you want to climb the 272 steps to the Temple Cave, don't wear short pants or short skirts/dresses because you will not be allowed (unless you have a sarong to cover up your legs).
On the way up, you will see a lot of monkeys. You are allowed to give them food (I don't remember any signs otherwise) and they are actually capable of opening plastic bottles on their own (this really amazed me). They are also used to pictures but they're not that tame. They tend to go away when you attempt to go near them.
Upon reaching the top, you will see an overview of the city.
There are two levels of the cave inside. The first one is just a big hollow area with statues at the sides. The pictures below show the view at the entrance.
The 2nd level, which means more steps, is where there is a mini temple. This area also has an open top, in which the sunlight illuminates the cave. This is actually my favorite part. You will hear birds and will be mesmerized how beautiful the stone formations are.
Well, I would have to admit that I was a bit disappointed. The Temple Cave was supposed to be a holy place but there are actually mini stores inside and it was a bit cluttered.
On the way down, there is a way to the right that will lead you to the Dark Cave and you can opt to join their scheduled tour for a price of MYR35.00. This cave is home of rare spider species and many others. Only those who will join the tour can actually go inside.
With regards to food, there are a lot of food stalls and diners in the area. Though most of them are Indian and Chinese cuisines. There are also a lot of souvenir shops.
